HONOR has officially confirmed that its next-gen flagship lineup, the Magic8 series, is slated to launch in Q4 2025. According to a post by HONOR CMO Guo Rui in his Weibo account, he is calling it the “most exciting flagship of Q4.” Though no exact date has been given yet, leaks and industry observers are betting on a mid-October reveal — a slightly earlier rollout compared to last year’s Magic7 series.
Multiple Models in the Pipeline
Just like previous generations, the company appears to be planning a staggered release for the Magic8 family. The standard Magic8 and Magic8 Pro are expected to arrive first, while the Magic8 Ultra and a potential Magic8 Mini could follow in early 2026. This strategy mirrors how the company handled the Magic7 series.
AI at the Core of the New Flagships
HONOR is leaning heavily into artificial intelligence for the Magic8. The phones are being described as “AI-native,” suggesting built-in smart features meant to integrate into how users interact with their devices daily. MagicOS 10 is said to include a large language model that can automate tasks in the background. Additionally, there are whispers of a dedicated hardware button for one-touch access to AI features — though that piece hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Camera Upgrades and Hardware Spec Rumours
The leaks highlight potential significant improvements in imaging hardware. One of the standout rumours is a “NoxGod” technology powering a 200MP telephoto sensor, along with a direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) module for better depth sensing — which could aid photography, AR, and possibly video. HONOR is also reportedly continuing its trend toward thinner, lighter builds even as camera specs get more ambitious.
What It Means for the Flagship Race
With the Magic8 series, HONOR seems to be positioning itself not simply as a contender, but as a leader in bringing AI into flagship mobile experiences. If the rumours pan out — advanced cameras, AI features baked into the OS, hardware shortcuts — then Magic8 could be one of the most talked-about devices heading into the holiday season.
