HONOR shows off Magic V5's 8.8mm body build in folded mode

At MWC Shanghai, HONOR has officially revealed the Magic V5, its next-generation foldable phone set to debut on 2 July 2025 in Shenzhen. The company also unveiled a couple of design features, confirming its super-thin body build.

 

Design and Tech Specs

On its Weibo page, the HONOR Magic V5 breaks the record as the slimmest foldable flagship phone in the world, measuring an impressive 8.8mm when folded. And then when unfolded, the overall device becomes only 4.2mm, which is thinner than many standard smartphones nowadays. The foldable device also weighs 219g.

In terms of tech specs, HONOR also confirmed that the Magic V5 will pack a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Edition. Besides that, rumours have it that the device could run on 16GB of RAM and a 6100mAh silicon carbon battery pack with 66W wired charging technology. It should come operating on Android 15.  

Other unconfirmed tech specs include an exterior 6.45-inch LTPO OLED 120Hz and an interior 8-inch 2K+ LTPO OLED 120Hz display, as well as a triple 50MP (main) + 200MP (periscope) + ultrawide rear camera setup. The Magic V5 could be IPX8 water resistance rated.

 

Alpha AI

HONOR is reportedly banking on its in?house Alpha AI, built into MagicOS 9, to offer on-device intelligence. From assistant tasks to cross-device workflows, all without cloud dependency. We will know more about it when the Magic V5 is unveiled on the launch date.

 

Launch Event

As a friendly reminder, the launch date is on 2 July 2025 in China. The global release is expected to be around September 2025 during the IFA event in Berlin.
