Computers comes in multiple forms, sizes and functions. Some are expensive, some are cheap, while others are either simple to use or geared to the hardcore enthusiast. The new HP Chromebook 13 looks to be a high-priced but simple to use computer. It uses the Intel Core M processor – the same processor in the new Apple Macbook, and starts from USD 450 (~RM 1700).

This Chromebook is a result of a design partnership with Intel, and the HP Chromebook 13 has the premium look from the get go. It comes with an anodized aluminium chassis, a high resolution 13.3 inch quad HD+ display, with a pixel count of 3200 x 1200 and is only 12.9mm thick. It is a cheaper Google Chromebook Pixel in all intends and purposes except the price.

According to HP, this is the first Chromebook to use the 6th generation Intel Core M processor, and it comes with all the bells and whistles that you expect it to have. This includes USB Type C connector for both data and charging, up to 16GB of RAM and has an optional USB-C dock that gives you extra ports for your use in the office.

There will be four models on offer – the lowest spec model comes with the Pentium 4405Y processor with 4GB of RAM, the USD599 (~RM2327) gets you the Core m3-6Y30 processor with 4GB of RAM, USD819 (~RM3182) gets you the Core m5-6Y57 with 8GB of RAM, and the top ranger is the US 1029 (~RM3998) which comes with the Core m7-6Y75 with 16GB of RAM. HP Malaysia has yet to indicate if the Chromebook 3 will be coming here, so stay tune to Technave for updated news on local availability status.
