HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+ announced with 18:9 screen ratio, coming soon in April 2018

Just a few hours ago, HTC Malaysia has announced a new duo for the Desire family lineup. Introducing the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+, these two phones will be available in Warm Silver and Cool Black in April 2018. There's no official price tag yet, though, but we do have the specifications and features so check them out below:

HTC Desire 12

  • MediaTek MT6739, quad-core, 64-bit
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB internal storage (microSD expansion available up to 2TB with Flex Storage, optional cards not included)
  • Measures 148.5 x 70.8 x 8.2mm, weighs 137g
  • 5.5-inch HD+ (720 x 1440) IPS LCD
  • 13MP primary camera (PDAF, BSI sensor, f/2.2), 5MP (BSI sensor, f/2.4)
  • Features fingerprint sensor, dual nano-SIM slot,
  • Supports Micro-USB 2.0, 4G LTE (for both SIMs), Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5GHz)
  • HTC Sense based on Android 8.0 Oreo

HTC Desire 12+

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, octa-core, 64-bit
  • 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB internal storage (microSD expansion available up to 2TB with Flex Storage, optional cards not included)
  • Measures 158.2 x 76.6 x 8.4mm, weighs 157.5g
  • 6.0-inch, HD+ (720 x 1440) IPS LCD
  • 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera (PDAF, BSI sensor, f/2.2), 8MP (BSI sensor, f/2.0)
  • Features fingerprint sensor, dual nano-SIM slot
  • Supports Micro-USB 2.0, 4G LTE (for both SIMs), Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi: 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 & 5GHz)
  • HTC Sense based on Android 8.0 Oreo
  • 2965mAh battery

With a screen-to-body ratio of 18:9, HTC claims that the Desire 12 and 12+ are their most modern and sleek compact design yet, carrying such wide-view 2.5D glass displays. On the main cameras, it's equipped with Phase Detection Autofocus and the Desire 12+'s secondary 2MP camera can help to create multiple focal points and bokeh effect photos.

Based on the tech-specs and features given above, we think that the Desire 12 and 12+ are probably low-tier devices and could possibly be in the price range of RM1000, more or less. We will have to wait and see about that next month.
