The rumours are indeed accurate. After OPPO, HUAWEI has also launched its foldable device today before 2021 ends. The new HUAWEI P50 Pocket is the company's first clamshell folding smartphone, and that makes it go head-to-head with Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 3.

The HUAWEI P50 Pocket sports a 6.9-inch 120Hz OLED with a tall 21:9 aspect ratio and 2790 x 1188 px resolution. Under the hood, it gets powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 4G SoC paired with 8/12GB RAM and 256/512GB storage. There's also a 4,000mAh battery that supports 40W SuperCharge.

For photography, the device comes with a triple-camera setup that brings a 40MP True-Chroma Camera, a 13MP Ultra Wide Angle Camera, and a 32MP Ultra Spectrum Camera. There are also a 10-Channel Multi-Spectrum Sensor and an Ultra Spectrum illuminator. Interestingly, under the camera module, there's a small round 1-inch Cover Screen that supports the display of notifications, schedule, calendar, music, weather, and control of other features. Accessing the camera through the screen is also not an issue. Of course, users can customize their Cover Screen interaction experience.

The HUAWEI P50 Pocket is available in White and Premium Gold. For now, it'll only go on sale in China for CNY 8,988 (~RM5,925) for the 8/256GB trim and CNY 10,988 (~RM7,243) for the 12/512GB variant. However, HUAWEI has confirmed that the global launch is on its way, so it should be soon until we see the device in the local market.
