HUAWEI could be working on something interesting to revive its smartphone and chip-making businesses. According to this new rumour, the Chinese company might be preparing to launch the HUAWEI P60 with a 14nm chipset, dubbed Kirin 9100.

The information comes from a tipster on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. It's said that the new chip's performance will be able to go against the current generation 5nm process despite being 14nm. Compared to the 5nm process that houses 15 billion transistors, the 14nm process only has around 2 billion, so it definitely does make us curious about what HUAWEI is working on behind closed doors.

The news signifies HUAWEI's latest attempt at claiming the glory back after the trade ban. If it worked out, it would prove that the company doesn't need the US technologies to survive. For that to happen, it's rumoured that the P60 smartphone series will launch sometime in 2023.
