As scheduled, HUAWEI has debuted a new clamshell folding phone, the HUAWEI Pocket S. However, it's not a successor of the P50 Pocket launched last year but merely a stripped-down version of it. If you're interested, let's continue reading to find out about the tech specs!
The HUAWEI Pocket S sports a large 6.9-inch foldable OLED display with a resolution of 2,790 x 1,188 pixels. It also offers 10-bit colours and a 120Hz refresh rate. Furthermore, there is a 1.04-inch secondary cover display on the back panel, and it features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Pocket S is the industry-first foldable phone with a multi-dimensional linkage lifting water drop hinge as well.

Under the hood, the device gets powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 4G chip, paired with 8GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. It also packs a 4,000mAh battery unit with support for 40W charging alongside a flexible graphite heat dissipation system to cool things down. Software-wise, the Pocket S runs on Harmony OS 3 out of the box.
For photography, the foldable comes with a dual rear camera setup. It consists of a 40MP primary sensor and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Meanwhile, the front uses a 10.7MP for selfies and video calls. The HUAWEI Pocket S will also be available in Obsidian Black, Frost Silver, Mint Green, Sakura Pink, Primrose Gold, and Ice Crystal Blue, which offers more colours than the flagship P50 Pocket.
The device starts at RMB 5,988 (~RM3,895) for the 128GB option, while the 256GB model gets priced at RMB 6,488 (~RM4,220). If not enough, the 512GB variant is available for RMB 7,488 (~RM4,871). It's unknown if it's coming to Malaysia, but we'll let you know once we receive any updates.
