HUAWEI today quietly updated its global website with a new device that is likely to be marketed in the affordable smartphone segment, the HUAWEI nova Y61. It features a 6.52-inch LCD display with an HD+ resolution (1600 x 720 pixels), a standard 60Hz refresh rate and supports up to 1.67 million colours.
The screen also features a teardrop notch which houses a front-facing 5MP camera with an F2.2 aperture. At its rear, there’s a 50MP main + 2MP macro + 2MP depth triple-camera setup with autofocus. The rear camera setup supports the usual HUAWEI camera modes, including Photo Mode, Portrait Mode, Pro Mode, Panorama Mode, Aperture Mode, Slow-Mo, Light Painting, Moving Picture, Super Macro and High-Res Mode.
Besides that, the device itself is relatively lightweight at 188g and its dimensions are 164.28mm x 75.8mm x 8.94mm. The nova Y61 comes in three colour options, Sapphire Blue, Mint Green and Midnight Black.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an unnamed octa-core SoC with either 4 or 6GB of RAM. HUAWEI’s global website noted that the 6GB model will only be available in the Asia Pacific region. As for storage options, the device comes in just a singular 64GB configuration.
The nova Y61 also sports a 5000mAh battery with support for 22.5W HUAWEI SuperCharge. Other notable specs include USB-C, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack, dual-SIM and a side fingerprint scanner. Given that this is likely a budget smartphone, the device does not support 5G.
As of the time of writing, HUAWEI has yet to reveal the nova Y61’s pricing and availability. However, given that it is already published on the Chinese tech giant’s global website, do expect the device to be launched soon.
