After launching the Mate 40 series globally last week, HUAWEI has held another press conference today for a local launch in China. Other than revealing the price tags of the smartphones, HUAWEI's Executive Yu Chengdong has also mentioned that the company has some impressive technologies in hands and it's not the time for show yet. It is said that the Chinese tech giant currently has active 120W and 200W fast charging technology.

According to Yu, current smartphones are not suitable for such fast charging technologies as they do not come with huge batteries. For the HUAWEI Mate 40 series, the design of the devices is meant to be kept slim and their battery size has not been increased as well. Therefore, 120W or even 200W fast charging might not be the stuff for the devices. Other than that, the executive also mentioned that 50W wireless fast charging is the best balance point for now and anything above that may be unstable.

The HUAWEI Mate 40 series comes with a vanilla Mate 40 that supports 40W wired charging and 40W wireless fast charging. There are also Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro + that support 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. No matter what, we're still excited to see the day when 200W fast charging can be adopted by smartphones.
