HUAWEI is now ready to launch its new operating system, HarmonyOS NEXT this week. It marks a major change in the company's strategy, where they will abandon Android entirely. Previously, HarmonyOS NEXT was launched as a beta version. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, the success of the launch made HarmonyOS NEXT a stand-alone operating system, without Android application support. HarmonyOS NEXT will be rolled out in stages for some of Huawei's flagship devices, including the Mate 60, Mate X5, and MatePad Pro. However, there is still no confirmation whether the new Mate XT devices will receive the update.

In addition, with more than 10,000 applications supported by HarmonyOS NEXT, HUAWEI claims that the system can meet 99.9% of user needs, a big step towards achieving technological independence. The move is part of HUAWEI's ongoing efforts to stand on its own after years of facing technological restrictions.

Moreover, HUAWEI currently holds 17% of the smartphone market in China in the first quarter of 2024, and this shift has the potential to have a major impact on consumers in the market. However, it is important to remember that HarmonyOS NEXT will not support Android apps, a challenge for users accustomed to the Android ecosystem.
