If you're looking forward to the return of HUAWEI Kirin SoCs, you might get disappointed after seeing this news. Despite the rumours saying that the Chinese tech company will launch new Kirin chips next year, the latest information claims it won't happen.
According to the report, the main reason is that HUAWEI can't find a chip manufacturer that doesn't use US-based technology in its factories. For example, if the chips get manufactured by a company using machines from the U.S., HUAWEI will not be able to work with them.
It's unsure if HUAWEI will give up on the chip lineup completely, or if it will continue to look for ways to revive the production. Of course, it would be better if the U.S. removed the sanction, but the possibility is very low as both the Republican and Democrat sides seem to be very supportive of the decision. HUAWEI has been using the 4G Qualcomm chips in its newer smartphones. As 5G is getting deployed more widely, it might be a problem afterwards.
