After the trade ban being imposed on HUAWEI, some other Chinese smartphone manufacturers might also worry that they will face the same challenge. We can't deny that HUAWEI took some time to build the HarmonyOS to serve as the alternative to Google's OS. Therefore, if it happened to the others, they will also need some time to develop an in-house OS. Recently, the CEO of HUAWEI Consumer Business Group Richard Yu said that HarmonyOS will be made available for other smartphone manufacturers.

According to Yu, HUAWEI could help the other Chinese smartphone manufacturers by providing the HarmonyOS operating system and services that have already performed well as a replacement for GMS. The beta test for HarmonyOS 2.0 on smartphones has already started with selected developers and partners.

At the moment, it is still unclear that if the U.S. will remove the trade ban in the near future. Remove or not, it looks like HUAWEI will now focus on their HarmonyOS rather than fighting for the rights to have GMS working on their smartphones again. This latest news has also proved that the Chinese tech giant has the confidence to expand the in-house OS to serve other smartphone brands and maybe take a chance on competing against Android!
