HarmonyOS 2.0 public beta test is now available on the Huawei P40 and Mate 30 series

Today, Huawei has officially released HarmonyOS 2.0 beta program for some Huawei smartphones. At the moment, the Huawei P40 series, Mate 30 series and MatePad Pro will be going public testing first before rolling out. App developers who are interested in HarmonyOS 2.0 can apply for free as well

During an interview with Yang Haisong, Huawei Vice President of Business Software Department told the reports that more than 100,000 developers have already joined the program. The company also plans to upgrade the majority of Huawei devices with HarmonyOS 2.0 by next year so that the consumers don't need to buy a new one to experience it. Future Huawei smartphones will also come pre-installed with the new OS.

At the moment, a few brands such as Midea, Joyoung, Boss Electronics and Puffin Technology have already launched products that works with HarmonyOS. Besisdes their smartphones, Huawei's goal for 2021 is to cover more than 100 million devices (with the new OS from 40 major brands. This include smart home products like smart TVs and possible even cars.
