Sony's State of Play was announced a few hours ago and if you missed out on the latest announcement, no worries. In this article, we have compiled the top video games to look out for that are coming to the PlayStation 5 (and PS4). So without further ado, here's what you can look forward to.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

As rumoured for many months, it was inevitable that Capcom was going to remake another popular title from the Resident Evil series. Following the success of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4 was finally announced with the latest software gen and is headed to the PS5. The launch is scheduled for 24 March 2023.

New PS5 VR2 games

Speaking of Resident Evil 4, there is also a VR2 version coming soon but no date was announced. On top of that, Resident Evil 8: Village, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners, Chapter 2 Retribution, No Man's Sky and Horizon VR: Call of the Mountain are in development for VR2.

It's also worth noting that Horizon: Forbidden West has a major update coming. This includes Performance Mode, Transmog, Reset Skills, an Ultra Hard Difficulty mode for the hardcore fans, and a New Game+ mode. The update is now available to download.

Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered

Even after many years, the game is still celebrated as one of the best superhero games. Now, PC gamers will finally get a taste of it when the Remastered version is coming this year. We assume it will be released on Steam and Epic Games Store on 12 August 2022. Currently, Sony's exclusive games such as Death Stranding, God of War, Horizon: Zero Dawn and Final Fantasy VII Remake are already on Steam.

Stray

Remember the PS5 game where you get to play as a cat? Well, there's a new trailer and it shows more than what we think. Not only is it coming on the PS5 but the PS4 as well on 19 July 2022 which is really soon. PS Plus members on Premium and Deluxe can also get to play Stray for free when it releases on the date.

The Callisto Protocol

There was very little that we know of the game when it was first announced. But we do know that it is the spiritual successor of the popular horror game Dead Space and the new trailer certainly showed that. It will be launching soon on 2 December 2022 for the PS5 and PS4.

Street Fighter 6

We got a brand new look at arguably the most popular and influential fighting game franchise - Street Fighter 6. It's coming in 2023 but weren't told of the month, which tells us that we shouldn't be expected to appear so early next year. Confirmed characters for Street Fighter 6 include fan favourite Ryu, Chun Li, as well as Luke and Jamie as the new face for the latest entry. It will be available for the PS5 and PS4.

Final Fantasy XVI

Last but not least, Sony saved the best for the last which is FF16. We finally got to see lots of details and the gorgeous cinematic scenes of various characters and summons. It will be launching in the summer of 2023 which is a year onwards from now.

Honourable mentions

Before we end, there are other indie games coming on the PS5 and PS4 too. There's Rollerdrome coming on 16 August as an action-packed shooting game while you are rollerblading. Eternights is an interesting mix of action and dating SIM that's coming in 2023. Tunic looks like an RPG puzzle game scheduled for 27 September 2022 and finally, Season: A letter to the future will arrive in Autumn 2022.
