So something cool just happened - when I opened my Facebook page on the desktop, I was given early access to a new Facebook design layout! It seems not only a few selected ones got to experience this as my colleagues don't have it yet. So without further ado, here's the first look of possibly the new Facebook desktop design layout in the near future!
The early access will appear at the top of the Facebook wall first asking if you're interested in participating. Obviously, I didn't hesitate and just dive into it. The company has been working on a "fresh, simpler" look and features the very much needed dark mode, faster loading time and larger fonts as well in a simplified layout.
Actually, it feels very much like Facebook app integrated to the desktop version which is not bad. I've taken the liberty to take some screenshots while I was at it. Check them out below!
Here's how the invitation looks like after you join
DARK MODE YAASSS
At the top right corner is where you access the Account tab where you can always switch back to classic Facebook mode
On the left is where you will see a much simpler layout of the FB search engine, your profile, saved, groups, shortcuts and more. On the other hand, the right side will display the list of friends (all censored for privacy :p) in Messenger and events
The profile page got updated too and looks way tidier than before
If you happen to run a Facebook Page, it has been updated as well and the user interface is smoother. All the necessary tabs are on the left
You will also notice that the Facebook desktop is similar to the mobile app version. From left to right on the top, you can have a quick look at home, videos, market, groups, and games
In dark mode, looking for items in market is so easier now
Quick updates on whatever is happening in your respective groups
The games page got a radical design and it's quite appealing, to be honest. You can also browse for FB streamers on your favourite games
Personally, I welcome this new design layout very much but I still have yet to encounter any bug issues. For those who also got early access, you can always give your feedback at the Accounts tab on the top right.
