As fast-charging becomes increasingly better, the need for standards become more important. There are too many companies developing fast chargers, so it's important for there to be a unified standard. Fortunately, the big companies are well ahead of us.

As reported by ITHome (via Gizmochina), Chinese smartphone manufacturers are joining hands to create unified fast-charging standards. The announcement was released via an official document from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). It mentions that there will be "Technical Specifications for Converged Fast Charging of mobile terminals".

As you can obviously tell, this refers to fast-charging standards for mobile devices. The accompanying document confirmed that Honor, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, and Xiaomi are the big smartphone companies that will take part in the venture. Other technology companies like Rockchip were also mentioned.

For now, all we have is this announcement, so we don't know when the standards would be finalised. We also don't know if the CAICT plans to get the standards recognised at the international level or only in China. If you're curious about that, stay tuned to TechNave.com for more updates.
