For the last few years, more people are beginning to realise the impact of artificial intelligence (AI). AI platforms are everywhere now, but not all rely on simple Q&A text prompts. Some companies are exploring better ways to implement AI, like voice prompts.
Samsung has taken this approach for its flagship series of smartphones. With Gemini Live on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series devices, users don't have to key in text prompts that may or may not be effective. Instead, all they have to do is ask Gemini Live for the answers they want. Check out our example scenarios below.
Gemini Live basics
Before we show our examples, you should know how to activate Gemini Live on your Samsung Galaxy S25 Series smartphone. Here's a simple step-by-step guide.
- Long-press the power button
- Tap on the Gemini Live icon (the one with a small star on the top-right)
- Start asking your questions
- Once you're done, press X to end the conversation
You can also open the Gemini app to activate Gemini Live, then tap the Gemini Live icon. Additionally, you can share your screen, an image from the Gallery, or the view from the camera app before initiating the conversation. This can be handy when you want to know more about something specific, so the visual could be used as context for Gemini Live. Anyway, back to the examples.
For travel
Let's say you plan to go on a holiday but don't know how much you should budget or what places to visit when you get there. No worries, you can get Gemini Live to help with that. For instance, you can start by sharing a picture of a destination, then ask Gemini Live some relevant questions (like how much it costs) for a holiday there.
As you can see, you can ask the AI to give you an estimated budget and itinerary for a holiday trip. Gemini Live is more likely to provide detailed information if your questions are more in-depth. Note that the app can only provide estimates sometimes, like the budget for a trip. The info gathered is based on existing information, so there's also a chance it could be inaccurate or outdated.
Besides suggestions or info, you can ask Gemini Live to provide you with relevant links. Chances are, these links are where Gemini Live pulled its information from, so they could be useful as references later. Once you're done, you can ask the system to save to Samsung Notes. In this case, we asked it to save its proposed itinerary to the app.
For foodies
Gemini Live can help with food and cooking as well. Specifically, the system could help identify foreign fruits, confirm whether something is safe to eat, and more. Only a few items left in your fridge but don't know what to cook? That's no problem either, just ask Gemini Live for some suggestions. Below is a short example of that.
In this case, the AI suggested something simple to cook based on limited ingredients. You can also ask the system what to eat for your next meal to maintain a healthy diet. Here's another idea you can try: Take a picture of the steak at a restaurant and ask for suggestions on what wine to pair with it. You can even get Gemini Live to choose between options offered by the restaurant. These suggestions can also be saved to Samsung Notes or forwarded to someone in your contact list for future reference.
#TalkNotType
Of course, Gemini Live can help with other categories like art, home decoration, health, and more. If you're a content creator, you can ask the platform to generate video thumbnails for you. You can even ask it to teach you how to say something in another language, translate a document, summarise a conversation and more.
Moreover, we can expect it to do more as the technology improves. Best of all, it's easier than typing an elaborate text prompt (great if you have clumsy fingers like me). This means you could even have a hands-free conversation with the chatbot, while your hands are busy doing stuff (like cooking). As the sub-title reads - talk, not type.
Gemini Live is available on the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra. If you're interested in these phones, check our reviews of the standard and Ultra models here on TechNave. You can also learn more about the Galaxy S25 series phones via the Samsung Malaysia website.
