As an annual event for Huawei, there is bound to be a new Mate series every October and while we aren't surprised of this, Huawei's CEO, Richard Yu has confirmed with everyone that the Mate 20 series featuring the latest Kirin 980 is a-go in the upcoming October 2018.

So just to recap on what we can expect, rumours are suggesting that there could be up to four Mate 20 variants namely - the Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, a special Mate 20 Porsche edition and a Mate 20 Lite. Furthermore, the new Kirin 980 chipset could be the world's first 7nm chipset (if Apple does it first in September), featuring a new octa-core that consists quad Cortex A76 CPU + quad Cortex A55 CPU with a clocking speed of 2.8GHz. On paper, it's technically a good thing and sources are claiming that the new processor consumes 40% less power and 20% faster at the same time.

There isn't much-leaked information about the Mate 20 but it could feature bigger specifications such as the RAM going up to 8GB, 4200mAh battery and the usual 6.9-inch display with a notch. Also, both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are heavily rumoured to equip a triple camera setup on the back.

We will definitely learn more about the Kirin 980 chipset in IFA 2018 by the end of August so stay tuned for that at TechNave.com
