Huawei G8 smartphone and M2 tablet also launched for Malaysia both at RM1499
Asides from launching their premium Huawei Mate S smartphone for Malaysia's masses, Huawei Malaysia also launched the Huawei G8 smartphone and Huawei M2 tablet. The Huawei G8 looks to be the value offer here while offering a full metal body with fast Fingerprint 2.0 fingerprint sensor. The Huawei M2 tablet on the other hand is the successor of the Huawei MediaPad M1, featuring an 8-inch full HD display with dual front Harmon Kardon speakers. Both will be priced at RM1499 and are available starting from today.
Tech specs for the Huawei G8 include a 5.5-inch FHD display with 2.5D curved gorilla glass, 13MP camera with a sapphire crystal layer and OIS. The smartphone also packs in a fingerprint sensor with 3000 mAh battery, Dual SIM, Dual Access and Dual 4G LTE. The G8 still feels very premium with a design and build quality exceeding the honor 7, which has similar tech specs.
The Huawei M2 has a premium metal body, Kirin 930 processor and 3GB of RAM, with an 8-inch full HD display, 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Design-wise, the Mediapad M8 is 7.88mm thin but the overall flat and thin design with curvy corners remains the same. Features also include 4G LTE connectivity and dual 1W speakers with Harmon Kardon Clari-Fi audio technology while a 4800 mAh battery keeps the lights on.
Huawei Malaysia also sneaked in another value smartphone in the form of the Huawei Y6. Featuring a plastic build with metal frame, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera the Y6 looks to be a value beating entry-level smartphone at just RM569. Our hands-on experience of the Y6 is that it is a fairly lightweight device with a metal-like frame that looks good and works well.
