As an alternative to the Honor Band Z1, the company launched the new Honor Band A1, alongside the recently introduced Honor V8 smartphone. The biggest difference between this model and the Z1 is the lack of display (except for a single LED for notification) and the price tag, of only USD 15 (RM 60).

The specs of the Honor Band A1 includes:

  • LED Light for call/text notifications
  • Vibration ability for notifications
  • UV Sensor embedded
  • IP57 Dust and Water resistant
  • Connects to Android via Bluetooth 4.2
  • 70 mAh battery (up to 28 days standby)
  • MicroUSB for charging
  • 20g weight

The embedded UV Sensor is of some interest, as it can detect the current UV level of where you are, and the app can then suggest what SPF sunscreen you should be applying to yourself.

There will be two versions of the strap – one made out of silicon, the other made out of leather. The price does double up as you go leather – it will be priced at USD 30 (~RM120), but for the price, we can live with it.

We may see it being sold in Malaysia alongside the new Honor V8, but as for now, Honor Malaysia has yet to announce when it is going to be sold locally. We will update you once we have more information
