Huawei Mate 20 render concepts reveals a Waterdrop notch, triple camera setup, tech-specs and more

Just a few hours ago, XDA-Developers managed to get some Huawei Mate 20 firmware files and dug up some tech-specs. Under the code name "Hima", most of the tech-specs matches the rumours but they also got to render the Mate 20 based on real photos that were shared from a reputable Chinese source. Let's check them out below!

Before we get into it, keep in mind that these render concepts don't have the exact measurements so nothing you see is the final call. That said, all sizes of the notch, bezels, cameras, the logo and fingerprint sensor, as well as their positions, are just rough estimations. So do take them with a pinch of salt, mmkay?

So this is how the "overall" Mate 20 looks like, it seems that Huawei is also jumping on the Waterdrop notch design that OPPO recently introduced. The screen panel also looks like it's curved on four sides

A closer look at the Waterdrop notch, you can see the front camera and an actual stereo speaker, confirming dual stereo speakers on the Mate 20. Nice

On the back, rumours are suggesting the Mate 20 will have a triple camera setup but nothing quite like what we are seeing here. All the three cameras and the LED flashlight are grouped together inside a box formation. I guess it might be a good call to not exactly follow the P20 series camera position

Then finally, Huawei is still reluctant on dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack port which stays on the top. Meanwhile, the microphone, USB Type-C port and speaker are at the bottom

On the tech-specs corner, the firmware files also reveal that the upcoming Mate 20 will run on the latest Android 9.0 Pie OS so with this, we might actually see a new EMUI OS (6.0?) out of the box. Aside from that, it's no secret that the Kirin 980 processor will be part of it, while other specifications are not clear yet but it's said to have at least 6GB of RAM, 128GB internal storage, a 6.3-inch AMOLED display in 1080p, a 4200mAh battery pack and features a wireless charging technology.

So what do you think of the Mate 20 render design? Maybe they shouldn't have gone for the Waterdrop notch. Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more Huawei news at TechNave.com.
