Today, Huawei has officially introduced the Huawei Mate 80 Pro in Malaysia. Alongside the flagship smartphone, Huawei also unveiled several ecosystem devices, including the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5, Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 in Green, and the Huawei FreeClip 2 in Rose Gold.
Recapping the Mate 80 Pro Features
At the heart of the Mate 80 Pro is a newly upgraded triple-camera system, featuring a 50MP Ultra Lighting main camera with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, paired with a 48MP Ultra Lighting telephoto macro lens that supports 4× optical zoom. Completing the setup is a 40MP ultra-wide camera, all integrated with the True-to-Colour camera system.
Several AI-powered photography features are included as well. AI Composition provides real-time framing guidance by analysing subjects, lighting and balance to help users capture better photos. Other tools, such as AI Remove, allow unwanted elements in a photo to be erased, while AI Best Expression automatically selects the best facial expressions from multiple shots when taking group photos.

Additionally, the Mate 80 Pro introduces second-generation Kunlun Glass for improved protection. The strengthened glass uses high-strength nanocrystals and is designed to deliver up to 20 times greater drop resistance compared to conventional glass panels. The device also features a vegan fibre back panel that improves both durability and grip.
For protection against the elements, the phone carries IP68 water resistance with support for submersion up to six metres, as well as IP69 certification for resistance against high-pressure water jets. Huawei has also introduced a new SuperCool Dual Phase Change heat dissipation system, which improves thermal conductivity efficiency by 16% and reduces temperature rise by 33% compared with traditional cooling designs.
‘See, Truly Malaysia’ Campaign Promotes Local Photography

To coincide with the launch, Huawei Malaysia has partnered with Tourism Malaysia to introduce the “See, Truly Malaysia” photography campaign. The campaign aims to showcase Malaysia’s landscapes, heritage and cultural diversity through photos captured using the Mate 80 Pro.
According to Tourism Malaysia, the collaboration will help highlight the country as a destination for travel and cultural exploration. Huawei also announced the Huawei XMAGE Awards 2026 photography competition, which will run from 23 March to 16 August 2026. The contest encourages participants to capture authentic Malaysian scenes through Huawei’s imaging technology.
Huawei Expands Its Smart Device Ecosystem
Alongside the smartphone launch, Huawei introduced several new devices within its ecosystem. The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 5 wireless earbuds feature a dual-driver acoustic system capable of high-resolution lossless audio transmission. The earbuds also include a dual-engine AI noise cancellation system designed to adapt to environmental noise in real time.

Meanwhile, the Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 continues the brand’s premium outdoor smartwatch lineup. In addition to advanced diving capabilities, the latest version introduces enhanced golf tracking features for sports enthusiasts. Completing the lineup is the Huawei FreeClip 2, which features an open-ear design intended to deliver comfortable all-day listening.
