After the launch in China in November 2025, Huawei officially launched the Mate X7 in Malaysia. The company is positioning this device for productivity and entertainment, whether folded for comfortable one-handed use or unfolded into a large display for work and media consumption. Here's what you need to know about the local launch.
Recapping the Foldable Display Features
To recap, the Mate X7's highlight is Huawei’s X-True dual display system, which pairs a 6.49-inch outer screen with a large 8-inch inner display. The foldable design enables a large screen experience that supports live multitasking with up to three apps running simultaneously. The inner display reaches up to 2500 nits of peak brightness, while the outer screen pushes even further to 3000 nits. Both displays support an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.
In terms of measurements, it measures just 4.5mm when unfolded and 9.5mm when folded, with a weight of 235g. The outer display is protected by Ultra Durable Crystal Armour Kunlun Glass, offering significantly improved resistance to drops and scratches. Inside, Huawei claims an industry-first three-layer composite ultra-tough screen structure that delivers full bend resistance and increased impact protection.

The phone also features an advanced precision hinge supported by an aviation-grade aluminium middle frame with a claimed 37 % strength increase. Huawei showcased the Mate X7’s resilience at launch by demonstrating water resistance under extreme conditions, supported by IP58 and IP59 ratings that allow water immersion up to two metres and resistance to high temperature and pressure.
Recapping the Tech Specs
Under the hood, the Mate X7 is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chipset and comes configured with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Battery capacity has also increased to 5600mAh thanks to silicon-carbon battery technology, and supports 66W wired and 50W wireless Huawei SuperCharge.

Photography is a key focus of the Mate X7, featuring a 50MP ultra lighting HDR main camera capable of capturing up to 17.5EV of dynamic range, alongside a 50MP telephoto macro camera and a 40MP ultra wide camera. Huawei is also introducing its True to Colour Camera system and True to Colour Ultra HDR video to the foldable segment for the first time, which enables more accurate colour reproduction in both photos and videos.
Additionally, AI features further enhance everyday convenience, including AI Remove and AI Best Expression for photo editing, Face to Face Translation for real-time communication, and two-way AI noise cancellation for clearer calls and meetings in noisy environments.
