Today, Huawei took the stage in China and presented the world's first tri-fold phone. It's also marketed as the world's thinnest folding phone at 3.6mm thick, with a starting price of 19,999 Yuan (~RM12,227). Here's everything you should know about the new Huawei Mate XT.
As the company's first tri-fold device, the display measures 10.2 inches in triple-screen mode. For single and dual-screen, the displays are 6.4 and 7.9 inches. This makes it quite a big phone, weighing 298g, 156.7mm long and 219mm wide. The whole screen is OLED and supports LTPO adaptive refresh rate, 1440 Hz high-frequency PWM dimming, and up to 240 Hz touch sampling rate.
Oddly, the chipset was not mentioned on the official website but we have a good guess that it could be a Kirin unit. However, Huawei emphasized a lot on the camera aspect as usual. The XMAGE triple rear camera consists of a 50MP ultra-optical variable camera with OIS + 12MP ultrawide + 12MP periscope telephoto camera with OIS. The primary camera supports up to 5.5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom, as well as up to 8192 × 6144 pixels resolution for photos. Meanwhile, the front camera is just 8MP.
On top of that, the battery pack is an impressive 5600mAh with 66W Super Fast Charging technology. Wireless charging and wireless reverse charging are available as well as expected, supporting up to 50W fast charging and 7.5W charging, respectively. Other notable features include NFC support for Huawei Wallet Payment, AI functions, Satellite communication, and HarmonyOS V4.0 support.
There are three models in total and at the moment, Huawei has not made any comments on whether the Mate XT will go commercial globally. For now, below are the official prices for each model:
