It was only a few days ago when Huawei was teasing a new foldable tablet-like device. We didn't know when it would be revealed but Huawei pulled the curtain yesterday evening. It was revealed to be the Huawei Pura X and is only available in China.
It is technically still a flip phone but with a wide aspect ratio of 16:10 when unfolded. Hence, this makes the Pura X like a mini tablet. When unfolded, the interior display is 6.3 inches while the cover screen is pretty wide as well, measuring 3.5 inches. Both are using OLED panels with 1-120Hz LTPO 2.0 adaptive refresh rate, but feature 2120 x 1320 pixels and 980 x 980 pixels resolution, respectively.
At the camera corner, the Pura X has a triple rear camera module consisting of a 50MP main (OIS) + 40MP ultrawide/macro + 8MP telephoto setup. Meanwhile, the front camera is an odd 10.7MP sensor, and you can bet there are a couple of AI functions for it. In addition, the phone also has a respectable 4,720 mAh battery pack, supporting 66W wired, 40W wireless and 7.5W wireless reverse charging technology.
In terms of other features, the Pura X is water-resistant rated (IPX8) and can submerged underwater at 2 metres. The chipset is not mentioned on the official Huawei China website, but it runs on HarmonyOS V5.0. There are also two versions, which are the standard Pura X and Pura X Collector's Edition. Below are the official prices:
- Pura X 12GB + 256GB - 7,499 Yuan (~RM4.5K)
- Pura X 12GB + 512GB - 7,999 Yuan (~RM4.8K)
- Pura X Collector's Edition 16GB + 512GB - 8,999 Yuan (~RM5.4K)
- Pura X Collector's Edition 16GB + 1TB - 9,999 Yuan (~RM6K)
It is unknown if Huawei plans to export the Pura X to other countries such as Malaysia. We guess we just have to wait and see until the company makes the announcement. Stay tuned for that at TechNave.com.
