Huawei Search is apparently in beta testing right now

Since Huawei is banned from using Google Mobile Services, they have been steadily developing their own Huawei Mobile Services and adding more international apps to AppGallery (we were told Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are coming soon). According to XDA-Developers, it seems that the company is making a new Huawei Search which it's now on beta test.

Founded on reddit, fellow redditor /u/beingnull told sources that Huawei is currently recruiting users (from the UAE) to test out the new Huawei Search feature and give feedback. Heck, even an APK file is downloadable on the forum post. Anyway, Huawei Search is exactly what you think it is - a search app that lets you find results online from websites to videos, news and images. There is also a shortcut to check out the weather, a widget powered by Huafeng-AccuWeather.

Besides that, sports, unit conversion and calculator are also available as shortcuts. Users are also able to change some settings for the search engine such as search history, provide feedback, changing region and language, toggling safe search, the search scope and others. It seems Huawei Search can also use dark mode as well.

Huawei Search is apparently handed by Aspiegel Limited, a subsidiary of Huawei based in Ireland since 2019. To use the feature, one must have a Huawei ID which makes sense because it's “only available in the Huawei Device as an app or embedded search filed in Huawei services, such as Assistant (i.e. Search is not publically available in the web)". It's not known which search engine that Huawei Search uses, as there are no matching search results from Google, Yahoo, Bing and others.

One might think that Huawei Search is the alternative to Google Search but that's probably not the case. It could be just for mobile usage and purpose but then again, anything can change in the future. What do you think? Let us know and stay tuned for more Huawei news at TechNave.com.
