If you have a huge living room and want to furnish it with the best TV, chances are you're looking at an expensive OLED TV. But what if you want something different? In that case, how about the new Huawei Smart Screen V5 Pro?

Earlier today, Huawei unveiled the new Smart Screen V5 Pro in 85-inch and 98-inch variants. It's Huawei's new flagship TV, which comes equipped with a SuperMiniLED display instead of the more popular OLED. This TV promises immersive viewing experiences, as it has an incredible 99% screen-to-body ratio. It also has a 95% DCI-P3 colour gamut, HDRVivid, 720P/1080p AI upscaling to 4K and other features.

Going by the images provided, there's not much we can say about the design. Both variants are ultra-slim and come with a webcam, as well as a stand set that looks sturdy enough. There's also a minimalist remote controller with what's essentially a touchpad. According to Huawei, the 85-inch version has 576 dimming zones with a max brightness of 1600 nits. On the other hand, the 98-inch version sports 1008 dimming zones with a peak brightness of 2000 nits.

Overall, it sounds like a solid 4K TV with a rich feature set. Thanks to the high peak brightness, both variants should be viewable even in a bright sunlit room. Contrast and blacks should be good as well. Software-wise, the Smart Screen V5 Pro will be using the HarmonyOS 4 UI and Huawei Sound audio processing engine.

Huawei retails some of its smart TVs in Malaysia, so we could see this one released here in the future. But it's not cheap at 24999 yuan (~RM16022) and 36999 yuan (~RM23713) for the 85-inch and 98-inch variants, respectively. Would you buy one if it launches here?
