During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Huawei was awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution for LTE Evolution to 5G’ as well as Best Technology Enabler for NFV (Network Functions Virtualization) solution. It’s noted that this is the first year that GSMA has chosen to present the award for 5th generation mobile networks (5G), which Huawei showcased at the event with their “4.5G Evolution to 5G” solution for high-quality coverage, ultra-large capacity and flexible network architecture, helping operators to keep ahead on the road to 5G and making it a reality.

“This is the first year that GSMA sets an outstanding contribution award for 5G. Huawei is honored to receive this award” said Mr. Xu Wenwei, Executive Director of the Board, Chief Strategy Marketing Officer, “The next few years will see continuous LTE development and 5G innovations. So, we need to do the preparation in all aspects, including network deployment and industry collaboration. During the 4.5G to 5G, Huawei will keep focusing on helping our customers to improve user experience, to step into all cloud era, to enable innovative services for vertical industries, and finally to build 5G with more vitality and longer lifecycle.”

With this, Huawei had won over 170 contracts for cloud core networks and became a strategic partner and co-innovator with Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, and other global leading operators on their Cloud Native strategies. At MWC 2017, Huawei presented a Cloud Native demonstration developed with Vodafone, with a goal in mind to continue helping operators build more open, more innovative, more sustainable ecosystems around their Cloud Native networks, with the aim of creating more new services and more value.

In addition, by using the Cloud Native concept; Huawei’s NFV solutions is moving beyond basic virtualization that enables telecom networks to become fully distributed and automated, giving them greater elasticity, robustness, and agility. This will allow operators to enhance the network more efficiently delivering inspired user experiences, and enable agile innovation in services for better digital transformation.
