Gartner has stated that Huawei has claimed the spot as the number 2 smartphone vendor, overtaking Apple while Samsung still maintaining number 1 spot on the list. Based on a statement by Gartner, “Huawei’s smartphone sales grew 38.6 percent in the second quarter of 2018 thanks to the massive sale of the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro. Huawei continues to bring innovative features into its smartphones and expand its smartphone portfolio to cover larger consumer segments."
However, we might expect to see growth from Apple as they release this year’s refresh of their i-devices lineup some time next month. In terms of smartphone operating system, Google’s Android operating system holds up to 88% market share as compared to their closest competitor, Apple which has up to only 11.9%.
