Huawei might change the name Kirin 1000 to Kirin 9000 instead

As per tradition, Huawei would always introduce their latest Kirin chipset at the IFA event annually. For this upcoming IFA 2020 event on 3 September, it was previously reported that the Kirin 1000 would be the next chipset but that could be no longer the case. Thanks to a new report, the company could unveil the Kirin 9000 chipset for the Huawei Mate 40 series.

To add on, the Kirin 9000 chipset could also be the last Kirin chipset. This is due to the pressure from the US Government on cracking down Huawei's suppliers to provide tech components. Besides, Huawei CEO Richard Yu himself confirmed that from 15 September onwards, Huawei will not be able to produce its flagship Kirin chipsets or any of its AI-powered chips.

In case you're wondering about the specifications, there isn't much information but it is said to be the world's first 5nm chipset by TSMC. As for the Mate 40 series, rumours have it that the upcoming flagship could feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ display for the standard and a 6.78-inch QHD+ display for the pro variant. Of course, we also expect it to run on Huawei Mobile Services instead of Google Mobile Services.

The IFA 2020 event is not that far off so we will get to know the details pretty soon. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
