Huawei nova 13 and nova 13 Pro release - HarmonyOS Next and 5,000mAh battery, starting price at ~RM1.6K

Today, Huawei launched its latest nova phones in China. As usual, there are two models to the lineup - the nova 13 and nova 13 Pro equipped with HarmonyOS Next and AI photography features, as well as satellite communication capabilities.

Both the nova 13 and nova 13 Pro have similar features. For starters, the nova 13 and nova 13 Pro sport a 6.7 and 6.76-inch OLED display, respectively. The nova 13 also has a flat display design, as opposed to the Pro variant's curved display with the same reinforced glass. Besides that, both have the same 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 1400Hz and 2160Hz PWM dimming rate.

Powered by the same Kirin 8000 chipset and 12GB of RAM, the nova 13 features a 50MP RYYB main camera with dual OIS, an 8MP ultrawide macro lens and a 2cm macro lens. On the other hand, the Pro variant has a 50MP OIS main camera, a 12MP telephoto portrait lens and an 8MP ultrawide macro lens. Both have the same 60MP front camera and utilise the Da Vinci Portrait Engine 2.0 and AI features.

In terms of battery, both also use a 5,000mAh battery pack and support 100W Turbo fast charging technology. According to Huawei, the charging can juice up the phones up to 50% in just nine minutes. Other notable features include an under-screen fingerprint sensor, NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, stereo speakers, and Beidou satellite communication support.

  • nova 13 (256GB) - 2,699 yuan (~RM1,642)
  • nova 13 (512GB) - 2,999 yuan (~RM1,825)
  • nova 13 (1TB) - 3,499 yuan (~RM2,129)
  • nova 13 Pro (256GB) - 3,699 yuan (~RM2,251)
  • nova 13 Pro (512GB) - 3,999 yuan (~RM2,434)
  • nova 13 Pro (1TB) - 4,499 yuan (~RM2,739)

The nova 13 series is available in four colour options, namely Green, Purple, White and Black. There is no official word if Huawei plans to export the phones to Malaysia but we think the company will, as the nova series is quite popular among the Malaysian youths.
