While we are still waiting for news about if Huawei Malaysia plans to import the Mate 40 series, we just read some news that a metal casing is apparently not good for the phone at all. This was answered by Bruce Lee, Vice President of Huawei in regards to third-party cases since the official protective cases have sold out.

According to Lee, the metal casing can affect antenna transmission efficiency and performance greatly. Antenna signals are usually placed on the side frames so this could explain why and the phone will actively keep searching for a signal which will consume more battery power. On top of that, the metal can interfere with the phone's geomagnetic sensors which will also mess up the GPS signal.

Welp, that explains why we don't often see metal casings around. This should apply to other smartphones as well with similar consequences on paper, so it's best to use plastic or leather casings instead. On a related note, we will continue to monitor about the Mate 40 series arrival in Malaysia so until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
