When people talk about buying personal computers (PCs), they're most likely referring to a Windows PC. Of course, some prefer Mac PCs and some Linux users. However, a new PC operating system is on the way, and it's not from any of these American companies.

On Thursday, Huawei announced a PC version of HarmonyOS at the HarmonyOS Computer Technology and Ecosystem Communication Event. According to Huawei, the new HarmonyOS PC has three cores: HarmonyOS Base, HarmonyOS Ecosystem, and HarmonyOS Experience. The Base refers to the operating system's kernel, the Ark Engine to help with graphics and the UI, and the 'StarShield' architecture for security.

Next, there's the HarmonyOS Ecosystem, which houses over 150 exclusive apps and more than 2000 universal ecosystem apps. For instance, it has WPS Office as an alternative to Microsoft Office 365 and other apps for basic productivity or daily tasks. Like Microsoft Windows, HarmonyOS PC also has a built-in AI system called HarmonyOS AI.

Lastly, HarmonyOS Experience refers to the operating system's capability of supporting external devices. Specifically, HarmonyOS can support more than 1000 external devices. This includes keyboards, mice, monitors, printers, and more.
