A Zimperium research in 2023 shows that over 1800 online banking apps in over 61 countries have been attacked by Trojan viruses. Interestingly, the United States recorded the highest number of cases with 108 banks. This is followed by 49 banks in the UK and 44 banks in Italy.
Reportedly, these trojan malware or viruses could expand to cryptocurrencies, social media and messaging apps. So, the authorities and cybersecurity firms need to be on high alert. For your information, these are the 10 major banking Trojan software that could harm you:
• Nexus: There are 498 variants, attacking 39 APPs in 9 countries, providing instant screen sharing
• Godfather: has 1171 known variants, attacks 237 banking apps in 57 countries, and supports remote screen sharing
• Pixpirate: There are 123 known variants, driven by ATS modules, attacking 10 banking apps
• Saderat: There are 300 Trojan variants, attacking 8 banking apps in 23 countries/regions
• Hook: has 14 known variants, provides instant screen sharing, attacks 468 apps in 43 countries, and is rented to cybercriminals for $7,000 per month
• PixBankBot: 3 known variants, attacking 4 banking apps, equipped with ATS module for on-device fraud
• Xenomorph v3: There are 6 variants, with the ability to perform ATS operations, attacking 83 banking APPs in 14 countries/regions
• Vultur: 9 Trojan variants are attacking 122 banking apps in 15 countries.
• BrasDex: Attacks 8 banking apps in Brazil
• GoatRat: There are 52 known variants, driven by ATS modules, attacking 6 banking apps
