U Mobile recently announced that it is implementing 5G in-building coverage at 6 major transport hubs in Malaysia with the support of EDOTCO, covering entire floors and terminal facilities without relying on hotspots. These include KLIA Terminals 1 and 2, Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Langkawi International Airport, Penang Sentral and Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS).

Supporting Visit Malaysia 2026

In conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, U Mobile has also introduced the ULTRA5G Tourist Plan which offers 100GB of free high-speed data for 24 hours to international tourists via eSIM registration, valid from 12 February to 31 December 2026.

The launch ceremony at KLIA Terminal 1 was officiated by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. At the same event, a demonstration of the 5G RedCap camera was streamed live to show the use of cellular networks without a wired connection.

Further indoor 5G Expansion?

U Mobile is targeting the expansion of indoor 5G coverage to over 600 sites by the second half of 2029 with additional locations in 2026 including Kuching, Penang, Senai, Kuantan, KL Sentral and JB Sentral.

Hopefully it won’t impact U Mobile’s existing network coverage, but what do you think? How is U Mobile’s 5G for you? Share your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com
