In the wake of Veo 3, Microsoft quietly adds on Bing Video Creator for free?

As the Internet has been bombarded by Google’s impressive Veo 3 and Flow generative AI videos, we noticed that Microsoft has quietly added video creation capabilities to their Bing Image Creator. This has resulted in Bing Video Creator and you can choose to switch between either Image or Video generation for FREE.

Seems like it’s for everyone?

To be completely honest, we’re not sure when exactly Microsoft added this feature but it popped up on my phone’s Bing app sometime this weekend (probably yesterday). FYI, my account wasn’t on any special early adopters program that I know of, so I assume that it is for everyone.

We’re still waiting for any official announcements from Microsoft or Microsoft Malaysia but initial testing shows that it offers 10 generations per cycle. Either we haven’t got the hang of wording the prompt correctly or it’s still quite buggy but out of 4 tries, 2 prompts got blocked.

[Update] According to the official announcement, after the first 10 Fast generations, you can use 100 Microsoft Reward points for more. They've also confirmed that it is free and available to everyone except for those in China and Russia.

No audio and limited options… for now

Unlike Google’s Veo 3 and Flow, this is just video generation with no options for any additional audio like music, voice-overs, lip syncs or narration. The quality is a bit mid or medium level, but if you’re good at prompting you can probably do much better.

While you can open up the Edit screen, there doesn’t seem to be any option to change much just yet aside from the speed so videos remain in Portrait or 9:16 aspect ratio size. Generation can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours though.

Powered by OpenAI’s Sora, it’s an interesting thing to try out on your phone and so far as we’ve been trying it, it is FREE. We’re not sure for how long it will be like that but we expect more options (like audio) to be added soon.

Have you tried out Bing Video Creator too? What do you think about it? For us, it's a more readily available platform to try out video generation because it is free and mobile-ready but in terms of features and performance it's nowhere near Google's Veo 3.
