Just over the weekend, an e-commerce platform from Indonesia - BukaGlobal has just made its entry into the Malaysia market. Similarly to other e-commerce logistic businesses like DHL and Poslaju, this marks as BukaGlobal's first international appearance as part of its global expansion, which includes Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Brunei.

During the press launch, Krishna K.U. Hannan, Deputy Chief of Mission/ Minister Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia to Malaysia was happy to support the launch of BukaGlobal as they "believe that this initiative will strengthen the bilateral economic ties between Indonesia and Malaysia. This initiative will also increase the role and contribution of SMEs, as an engine of economic growth, in our efforts to boost bilateral trade relations”.

To further add support, Fajrin Rasyid, Co-Founder and President Bukalapak said, BukaGlobal was designed to address logistics challenges in the region, such as high cost in postal and courier delivery. On top of that, their goal is to break down barriers "that hinder young and small entrepreneurs from competing on a global playing field, primarily on access, infrastructure, and connectivity”.

Bukalapak has been around for 9 years already in Indonesia with a market value over USB 1 million. Consumers in Malaysia can now begin ordering products that are 0.5kgs onwards and with a delivery time of approximately 6-11 days depending on the destination. For the Malaysia market, BukaGlobal’s services are covered throughout the Peninsular, Sabah, and Sarawak.

Their website will be up soon in Malaysia, so we will be keeping an eye on out this. Stay tuned for more news at TechNave.com.
