As we’ve alluded to previously, Infinix has released a new affordable smartphone in India, the Infinix Smart 8. Featuring some compelling specs for the budget price, read on to find out more about the device.

Rather confusingly, Infinix previously released a device with the same name in China, but with different specs. However, this version of Smart 8 is what is expected to be released in other markets, including Malaysia, should the company decide to bring it here.

Under the hood, the Smart 8 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G36 paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There’s also a 5000mAh battery with support for 10W charging via the USB-C port.

Screen-wise, it’s a 6.6-inch 90Hz LCD with an HD+ resolution and 500 nits peak brightness. It sports a punch-hole cutout which houses an 8MP camera, though the software utilises a dynamic-island-esque feature over the cutout.

The main camera setup at its rear is a 50MP camera paired with a secondary shooter. Other notable specs include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Android 13 Go via XOS 13, a microSD card slot, a selfie flashlight, DTS sound processing and colour options of either Rainbow Blue, Shiny Gold, Timber Black or Galaxy White.

In India, the Smart 8 is priced at INR7499 or ~RM421. As of the time of writing, Infinix has yet to reveal plans to make it available in other countries.
