The Sarawak State Government is planning to develop its own artificial intelligence (AI) Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) that would consolidate local data to be shared globally. Inspired by the success of DeepSeek, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg proposed for the state-developed model to be named ‘DeepSar’.
Bernama quoted Abang Johari as saying that he hoped that one day the state would have DeepSar, which is founded by Sarawakians and features content unique to Sarawak, facilitating digital conversation between Sarawakians and the world. Moreover, the Sarawak Premier also lauded a home-grown AI platform as being able to help showcase the state’s rich biodiversity.
Accordingly, he has tasked state-owned ICT solutions provider SAINS Sdn Bhd with consolidating relevant data. Abang Johari added that as a global hub for rainforests and biodiversity, Sarawak could share its knowledge worldwide, creating new economic opportunities for the state.
