During a hearing in the states, Instagram head Adam Mosseri said that the company is bringing the chronological feed back. It has been a long time since Instagram decided to show us posts based on some AI algorithms instead of in a timely manner. Now, it looks like the order of how most users want to see their posts is making a comeback.

The order might be coming back as an option rather than applied to everyone using the app. Besides that, Instagram will also add a "favourites" feed option, which will show posts from designated friends higher in the feed. Both of them are said to be available for users next year.

According to Mosseri, arranging the feed in chronological order might lead to users missing the majority of the posts. It is "impossible for most people to see everything, let alone all the posts they cared about," said the Instagram CEO. However, no matter how much the company dislikes the idea, they are still bringing it back for the users who prefer that anyway.
