Ever thought of watching Instagram Reels while doing something else? That hasn't been a thing before, but Instagram has been testing several new features and among them is a picture-in-picture (PiP) mode.
PiP officially confirmed
The PiP mode is currently in beta and was spotted by Radu Oncescu. In his post, you can see a pop-up prompting the user to try PiP mode, which can be enabled with a toggle. Unfortunately, the post doesn't show how large the PiP video would be. We also don't know if the PiP window can be resized.

While there are no screens of PiP in action, the feature is real and likely to be rolled out within the year. Oncescu comments that it works properly "as on TikTok", which suggests that Instagram Reel's PiP mode is identical to TikTok's.
Instagram Reels finally comes to iPad
In related news, Instagram has finally rolled out an iPad version of Instagram Reels. For those unaware, iPad users previously relied on an iPhone version of the app that scaled up visuals, resulting in blurry videos. Moreover, some of the apps were unavailable to iPad users.

According to the announcement, the new app is available globally on iPads with iPadOS 15.1 and above. Interestingly, the app's UI directly goes to the Reels feed. It also has a new 'Following' tab with multiple viewing options, allowing you to sort by recommended posts or content from mutual followers. In addition, an Android tablet version of this app is expected to be released soon.
So, any thoughts on these new Instagram updates? Are there any other new upgrades or features you would like to see added? Let us know in the comments below!
