Instagram might start asking you for money soon in order to see your favourite influencers' posts. According to the app's App Store listing, the platform will move away from conventional ads for monetization and launch subscriptions as "different ways to facilitate a financial relationship between a fan and a creator."

Judging by the listing, the subscription will cost 0.99 USD (~RM4.11) as the lowest and 4.99 USD (~RM20.71) as the highest. Besides that, there is also an "Instagram Badge" with the same price range. It is said that the new subscription will work by letting users pay their favourite creators for exclusive content not seen by non-paying users. Each subscription will also come with a "Member Badge" that displays next to the fans' usernames.

It's unsure when Instagram will roll out this feature. Besides that, the platform might also be working on "Exclusive Stories", which the name already suggests that only paying users can access the exclusive stories. At last, we hope that the social media platform will release something that doesn't require us to take our wallets out as well.
