There are 'leaks' and there are discoveries. If you ask us, the latter is often more interesting because they are more likely to be true. That seems to be the case with a new unreleased feature discovered within Instagram for Android.

According to Jane Manchun Wong, an expert in the reverse-engineering of apps, the codes for disappearing messages were found in the Android version of Instagram. It was labelled as speak-no-evil mode, with the emoji in front. You know, the one with the monkey? Anyway, Wong demonstrated how the disappearing messages feature works on Instagram Direct.

For some reason, it works in dark mode and when you close the Direct message thread, messages sent will be gone. Instagram has also confirmed that this feature is coming, except that it's still in the early stages of development. But it seems to work, so we think it will come sooner rather than later.

With that said, how many of you are interested in having this feature on Instagram? Do let us know how important the feature could be for you on our Facebook page. Also, be sure to stay tuned to TechNave.com for more future updates on this.
