Instagram is putting ads in search results and enabling brands to push out ‘reminder ads’

Meta-owned social media platform Instagram has announced that it’s rolling out two new ad placements on the app. These include ads in search results and a new ‘reminder ads’ notification from brands. 

In an official blog post, Instagram elaborated that the two new ad products would give businesses more ways to get discovered and form meaningful connections. Through ads in search results, businesses can reach people actively searching for specific products and content. 

The ads will show up in the feed that users can scroll when they tap into a post from search results. Instagram further revealed that this ad placement will launch globally “in the coming months”. 

As for reminder ads, businesses can announce, remind and notify people of future events or launches that they might be interested in. It is currently being rolled out to all advertisers as an option in feed.

Users have the option to o or out of receiving reminder ads. Should they opt-in, they will be receiving three notifications from Instagram one day before, 15 minutes before and at the time of the event.
