Instagram new Commerce Eligibility Requirements updates will allow creators to sell products starting on July!

Instagram has been supporting small and local businesses throughout the pandemic period with stickers. Today, the company announced a new Commerce Eligibility Requirements for Instagram Shopping to let creators sell merchandise directly in the app starting from next month.

According to Instagram, the new Commerce Eligibility Requirements will go into effect on 9 July where creators will need to demonstrate the authenticity and trustworthiness on their profile as well as proving the established presence by showing the sufficient follower base. The creators also need to tag products on Instagram from the website they own or selling from. However, Instagram did not specify the minimum getaway of followers for creators to be qualified.

Instagram has been planning to allow creators to sell and shop on Instagram for years since 2016. The company first introduced shopping tags in 2016 and followed by the business stickers this on Instagram Stories this. Earlier on, only celebrities and influencers had access to Instagram’s shopping features and finally, it’s available to creators.
