Intel launch Iris Xe MAX GPU to deliver gaming performance to ultraportable laptops

When it comes to graphics for laptops, most compact ones just use integrated graphics processing unit (iGPU) that are included with the CPU. Intel has been doing that for years, but the company has just officially launched its Intel Iris Xe MAX GPU, which is a discrete GPU (dGPU) instead.

According to Intel, Iris Xe MAX is based on the same Iris Xe architecture used in the iGPU for the 11th-Gen Intel Core CPUs. This dGPU runs at a clock speed of 1.65GHz and features 96 Execution Units (EU). It comes with the Deep Link feature, which combines the power of both the CPU and GPU using a common software framework to dynamically share power and boost performance when needed.

It's said that this new dGPU from Intel can allow ultraportable laptops play 1080p games. For reference, it allegedly has better overall performance in gaming compared to Nvidia's MX350 GPU. A total of three models that will have this dGPU have already been revealed: the Acer Swift 3, ASUS VivoBook Flip TP470, and Dell Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1.

We can probably expect more laptops featuring Intel's new graphics processor in the coming months. But for now, what do you think? Would you be interested in a laptop featuring Intel's latest chips? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
