The Intel's Architecture Day 2020 took place today and gave us some insights about its next-generation Tiger Lake processors (Intel’s 11th Gen Core processors). Other than that, the company has also shared some updates regarding the first generation of Intel’s Xe-LP integrated graphics. Let us find out what else Intel has promised to bring in the near future!

Starting from the Tiger Lake processors, Intel has adopted the 10nm SuperFin design that offers dramatically better frequency speeds by drawing less power. With that said, users can expect a big performance boost at the same voltage levels as of the Ice Lake processors. Other than that, the upcoming processor will also be supporting Thunderbolt 4 and USB4, DDR5 RAM at up to 5400MHz (in addition to DDR4 at up to 3200MHz and LPDDR4X at up to 4767MHz), and PCIe Gen 4.0 (offering speeds of up to 8GB per second to memory).

Furthermore, the debut of Intel's Xe graphics will be happening with the Tiger Lake processors as well. Intel is promising big improvements to gaming across Intel’s lineup with the Xe-LP (low power). At the event, they have showcased games like PUBGGridDoom Eternal, and Battlefield V running smoothly at 1080p. The Xe-LP also promises better performance for creators and display performance, with support for up to 8K UHD with HDR10 and Dolby vision panels, up to 360Hz refresh rates, and up to two times the performance for encoding and decoding video.

Besides the Xe-LP, the demo for the Xe-HP (high power) has also been shared. However, we are not seeing a release until 2021. The Xe-HPG which will be focusing specifically on gaming has also been presented to compete with the likes of AMD and Nvidia. It's expected to feature hardware-accelerated ray tracing and support for GDDR6 memory. The Xe-HPG will start shipping next year.
