Its time to say goodbye to BBM!

BlackBerry Messenger Service or better known as BBM, will be shutting down its service on the 31st of May. Users will have a week to download all of their data off the app before it is gone forever.

The company has mentioned the reason for the shutdown is because they were not only losing users to other messaging apps, new users also rarely signed onto the app as well. Once upon a time, BBM used to be the largest messaging app, even on non-BlackBerry devices.

I remember the days where it was cool to put your BBM code on your social media accounts and have people add you and feeling even more superior when you actually owned a BlackBerry. It really felt like belonging in a cool kids club. I think what made it more fun were the status updates where you could post specific quotes or messages to attract friends or remind that special someone that you’re thinking of them. Of course, who could forget the cute notification dings? I definitely do.
