The Road Transport Department (JPJ) today announced that several security features and overall user-friendliness features have been added to the MyJPJ app and its public portal. JPJ director-general Datuk Zailani Hashim said that the features can be accessed gradually starting today.

According to Bernama, the improvements include a new third-level security feature using the last 8 characters on the back of users’ driver’s licenses for online JPJeID registration. This is on top of the existing 2-level security feature of password and TAC code.

Besides that, JPJ also added an ‘email reset’ feature for users who have forgotten the email they used or need to update their email. There’s also a new function that allows users to retrieve their account using the last 8 characters of their driver’s license.

The latter was added in response to the issue of some new users who can’t register an account after being notified that they have already registered. JPJ clarified that the issue was caused by users having an existing account on a JPJ strategic partner portal that integrates with the JPJ system.
