In this day and age, it only makes sense for more processes to go online. Having to skip going to a government office and queue up saves a lot of time, so it's great to see that the Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) Malaysia making such a move. Specifically, the JPJ has announced that we'll soon be able to renew our driver's license on MyEG.

On its Facebook page, the JPJ has confirmed that a few processes will be available through MyEG. Firstly, starting from 9 October 2020, motorcycle owners will be able to renew their road tax through the platform. And the biggest news is that you can also renew your driver's license on the website beginning 16 October 2020. In case you didn't know, car owners can renew their car road tax on the website too, a feature that was added a few years ago.

The feature isn't new on the platform but was previously removed

However, the above only applies to renewals. You'll still have to go to the JPJ for first-time applications. JPJ mentioned that the reason for the two processes being renewable on MyEG is because counters at the JPJ offices have had to close lately, due to the second wave of COVID-19 infections.

While renewing a driver's license isn't something you have to do often, it's good to see that we don't have to take a few hours off just to get it done now.
